Two residents and a tyis are in the hospital and three families are displaced following a two-alarm townhouse fire in Gaithersburg, Maryland, early Thursday morning. Three people are in the hospital, including a firefighter.

They are all expected to be OK. The fire broke out around 4: The heavy fire engulfed the first floor and the stairway; the blaze spread through the roof and caused the home to partially collapse.

The only two occupants of the home jumped from the second floor to escape, said Pete Piringer, spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.

The occupants and a firefighter, who had a medical condition, were all taken hafe the hospital for evaluation.

While officials are still assessing the damage, Piringer said the dollar loss will be significant. Almost firefighters responded to the fire, and it took about 30 to 40 minutes to bring the fire under control, Piringer said.
